Toddlers love painting and crafting, but it’s the bonding we’re after! (Hey! I’m a poet, I don’t know it!). My son, Ollie, got sick recently and missed school, so here we were, confined in our apartment with little to do!
I wore my crafty mommy hat, Ollie got super focused, and is every day getting better at painting! Although my pants were officially multicolor after the ordeal, the result was totally worth it… and my toddler’s happy face makes me want to craft every day!
For the Bunny Toilet Paper Roll Craft, You’ll Need:
- 1 Toilet Paper Roll
- Assorted Kid Paints
- Paint Brushes
- 1 Sheet of Colored Foam Paper
- 1 Sheet of White Foam Paper
- Glitter Glue or Glitter
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Black Permanent Marker
- Cutter or Scissors
- 1 Wooden Popsicle Stick
How to Make a Super Cute Bunny Toilet Paper Roll
Step 1 – Getting Everything Ready
Get all the materials ready and prepare a clean table or surface for you and your toddler to work on.
Store the scissors or cutter and the glue gun safely away from your toddler.
Step 2 – Paint the Toilet Paper Roll
Let the fun begin! Use a brush to paint the toilet paper roll in your favorite colors!
Use this time to let your creativity roam and paint until your toddler is happy with her work!

Step 3 – Put Your Painted Toilet Paper Roll Craft to Dry
Once you and your toddler have your masterpieces ready, leave them somewhere to dry!
Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of stuff to do in the mean time!

Step 4 – Making the Bunny’s Feet
Let’s make the bunny’s feet!
Just grab a wooden Popsicle stick and cut it in half.
If you’re using a cutter make sure you’re cutting the stick on an appropriate surface (Don’t ruin your best table, mama!)
It doesn’t have to be perfect, so don’t worry about making the edges smooth.
Step 5 – Let’s Make the Ears!
Bunnies have long ears, so let’s give our bunny his ears!
Make a pattern on the foam sheet for the ears. The color foam will be the external part of the ears, and the white foam will be the interior part of the ears.
We left a little bit of a rectangle at the bottom so they would be easier to glue to the bunny’s head, but you don’t need to leave it.
After you have cut the shapes, glue the white on top of the colored sheet. Again, it doesn’t need to be perfect.
We used yellow, but you can choose any color you or your toddler wants.
Step 6 – The Head and the Body
Are the paper rolls dry? Good!
Cut them into two parts, the bigger part will be the body and the smaller one will be the head!
Aim for cutting the paper roll into a piece that’s about one-third and a second piece of about two-thirds.
Be careful not to bend the rolls as you cut them since they may be fragile! Also, make sure you keep the cutter or scissors away from your toddler.
Step 7 – That Happy Bunny Face
With the black permanent marker, draw a happy bunny face in the smallest part of the paper roll.
So cute!
Step 8 – Glue the Feet
It’s hot glue time! Let’s glue the feet to the biggest side of the paper roll!
Keep them about a finger apart from each other and not too close to the edges of the roll.
This goes without saying but the hot glue gun is… well… very hot, so be super careful around your toddler and your fingers!
Step 9 – A Toilet Paper Roll Bunny Needs Ears!
Carefully glue the ears to the top of the bunny’s head!
It’s fine if the ears overlap each other or are slightly leaned to different directions.
Again, be careful of hot glue gun heat!
Step 10 – Glue the Head to the Bunny
Glue the head to the body and… voila!
You got a bunny! Hop, hop, hop. Our toilet paper roll craft is ready!
But we can always add more details!
Step 11 – Adding Fun Stuff
You can add fun stuff, like a fluffy tail with a pom pom, try different designs of the face, or try painting the paws of the bunny!
We added cheeks with glitter because mommy loves glittery stuff!
